Trick or Treat! Owen is the Lovable Lion! We had a fun Halloween, with a baby costume party at Owen's friend, Emma Grace's, house this afternoon. Four cute babies all dressed up- nothing could be cuter!

My former preschool student, Ben, was diagnosed with Type one diabetes at the age of 3. Today, I walked with a great team, "Ben's Superhero Squad," to raise money for juvenile diabetes in the JDRF Walk in Raleigh. If you would like to donate, click the following link: http://walk.jdrf.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=extranet.personalpage&confirmid=87876870&sr=facebook.
While I was out raising money for this great cause, Owen got to spend some time with Daddy. They went for a walk, played in the tupperware cabinet, built blocks, and pushed trucks around. Here's a pic Daddy took while they ate lunch. Owen tends to get very happy when he eats :-)

Owen is Learning His Colors!
Owen has had a strong interest in balls over the last few weeks. Since we play with them often, we decided to add to the difficulty of rolling and going after them. We have 4- pink, orange, purple, and blue. Over the past 2 weeks, we have named the color of the ball we are playing with and asked Owen if he could get a certain color for us. If he got the color correct, we cheered for him. Our color game is paying off. Owen is learning his colors!

Better Videos Are Here!
After 10 months, our wait has come to an end! iLife 11 (for the Mac) came out this week and we jumped on the opportunity to buy it. In my post about videos last week, I mentioned that we had lots of videos of Owen stuck on our camera because we didn't have the software to get them off. So last night, we put iLife to the test and put all 95 (yes, 95) videos onto the computer. It was so nice finally being able to watch those videos from when Owen was first born!
Well, we played around with it this morning. Owen was more than willing to show his stuff to the camera, so here it is. Our smart boy in action....

Autumn Air
Owen has been enjoying the fall weather the last few weeks. One of his favorite things to do during the day is head outside with a blanket and a bucket of toys. We sit out back for about an hour a day (30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon), playing, and watching the cars and airplanes go by. And if we time it just right, we get to watch the school bus! Owen LOVES the school bus!!
If we are inside the house and we ask, "Owen, Where is the school bus?," he crawls up to the back window to peer out. We are pretty sure we have the smartest baby around!
Anyway, here are some pictures of Owen outside on this beautiful October day!

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch
Since it is FINALLY starting to feel like fall, we thought it would be a good day to take Owen to the pumpkin patch! Although there are patches right in our area, we decided to take a trip up to Youngsville, NC to Hill Ridge Farms. What a fun afternoon!
Owen loved watching the chickens and goats in the animal corral.
He and his Daddy watched the animals eat corn that people were feeding them.
The big hit of the day was the tractor ride. Owen was so excited, and even got to sit right up front so he could watch the big tractor move as it brought us to the pumpkin patch. He loves big wheels!!
He wasn't quite sure what to make of the pumpkins. He thought they were balls and even tried to kick them... But they didn't move very easy!
There was so much to see and do, we couldn't get Owen to look at the camera once.
Owen picked a prize pumpkin! Here he is waiting for the tractor ride back to the car.

He's Crawling!
I posted a video of Owen just 3 days ago. He was scooting all over the place on his belly. Well, he's officially done it... He's now crawling!! Within the last few days, we've seen him get up on his hands and knees more, and go a foot or so before dropping on his tummy to scoot. Today he figured it out and was all around the house! Here's a video we took tonight...
A morning at the Park
It is a beautiful weekend here in North Carolina. Cool 50's in the morning and 80's by the afternoon. We decided to take advantage of the weather today and go to North Cary Park. It's a great place to spend some time, with walking trails, volleyball and basketball courts, a playground, rock climbing wall, and a picnic shelter. We brought along the basketball, and Owen laughed so hard when watching Mommy and Daddy shoot it. Daddy says he can't wait until Owen is big enough to have a basketball of his own!
After some ball, we walked the trails and took Owen to the swings. Here are our pics!

A Pilot in the Making
Owen's favorite thing ever is watching airplanes. He could do it for hours. It helps that we live less than 10 minutes from the airport and are right in the flight path. "Airplane" was his second word ("Dada" came first). He says "Ap" or these days it's sounding more like "Apple" when he sees one and can point one out way before we can even see them sometimes.
This morning we took Owen to the Raleigh Durham Airport observation deck to watch a few take off. We've been here once before, and Owen loves it! He enjoys watching the cars and buses down below and of course the planes. I'm not sure he blinked once the whole time we were there. Here are a few photos...

The Truth About Videos
So before Owen was born, we went out and bought a new camera. It takes photos in HD as well as HD video. We have so many videos of Owen that are so bright and clear, however, it will be a while before any of you get to see them...
You see, the camera is so "high tech" that not every video program reads them, and ours is one of them. So the beautiful videos that cover 9 months of Owen's life are sitting on the camera, taking up space, and we are the only one's who have seen them!
Good thing I saved our old camera when we got the new one! Every once and a while, I take a video with the old camera so I can post it on Facebook or send it in an email. I took a few last week of him scooting around his bedroom. It's not the best looking video, but at least you can see him in action!
And hopefully soon, we will be buying a program so our clearer videos can be put on the computer. Ben says we're waiting for the next version of iLife to come out... whenever that may be...

Painting Pumpkins!
Don't forget, I used to be a preschool teacher. I'm used to chaos....
For those of you who don't know, after having Owen, I decided I would rather stay home with him while watching 2 little girls, instead of teaching and having him down the hall from me. It turned out to be the best decision ever. I LOVE spending every day with him, watching him learn and grow. I still want him to get the "preschool" experience; doing art projects, dancing, reading, etc, so on my most ambitious days, I pull out the paints!!
Owen and Lily thoroughly enjoyed this project, although half way through it, I questioned the mess. Owen had a roll away pumpkin, that just happened to go all the way across our dining room carpet. Good thing it's washable crayola paint! I'm sure he loved decorating the house with reds, yellows, and green, but it's really not my style. Lily had an orange and yellow streak in her hair, and with the amount of paint on their lips, I was sure they'd be pooping rainbows for a week! After the two covered their entire bodies, pumpkins, and papers with paint, it was time for a dunk in the tub!
What You've Missed
Today our baby boy turns 9 months old! We can't believe how fast this year is going! In the last nine months, Owen has given us a whole new meaning to life. Last night as we scrubbed bottles, made more bottles, scraped dinner off the floor, and reached under the couch to find toys that had rolled away, we asked ourselves, "What did we used to do before Owen?" Wow, we must have lived a pretty boring life. It was just before 7 pm. I think I used to be in my pajamas at this time, already relaxing with a glass of wine in my hand. Now look at us. We haven't even eaten dinner yet and the house looks like the inside of a toy box. It's a race to clean up and be on the couch for our 8:00 House date. Ben takes the bottles, I take the toys. Meet ya at the finish.
As tiring as having a baby is, we are loving (almost) every bit of it. He makes us smile and laugh all the time and is teaching us new things every day. We are amazed at how much he is learning and we love to see the world through his eyes. Since Owen was born, he has always been a talker. He rambles on constantly. Recently he has actually begun to say "words" and we notice he is making sense of many things. He loves to call his "Dada," point out the "Aps" (airplanes) and his most recent attempt at a word was when he wanted me to turn on the "La" (light). He loves language. He watches our mouths as we speak to him, and studies the objects we name. When asked, he can point out the clock, lights, babies, airplane, trucks, water, outside, and his paintings on the wall. I'm sure every parent says this, but I'm pretty certain we have the smartest baby ever...
Blogging Again
We started a blog, "It's a Boy," when we found out we would be bringing a baby into the world (You can find it at BabyCammett.blogspot.com). We were so good about posting, and did so almost every week. Well, the last post was on week 39 of my pregnancy, 5 days before Owen turned our world upside down. Nine months later we're back. We have been missing our family and friends tons since Owen was born, and wish we were closer so everyone could enjoy him as much as we are. Facebook is a great way to share pictures, but with a blog we can give you a better image of what it is like raising our little boy. If you can't be with us, you can at least follow us! So here it is: Our blog dedicated to the ups, downs, and trials of raising OWEN.
